HARRISBURG – Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) Vice Chair Kimberly Barrow has been appointed to serve as one of ten state utility commission representatives on the Joint Federal-State Task Force on Electric Transmission.
The first-of-its-kind task force was established in 2021 by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC), to explore national issues related to electric transmission; to identify ways to foster the efficient development of new transmission infrastructure; and to help foster greater federal-state coordination and cooperation as an essential part of the national transition to clean energy resources.
“I am honored to join this important national conversation about key energy issues, on behalf of the citizens of Pennsylvania along with our sister states across the Mid-Atlantic region,” noted Vice Chair Barrow. “Our Commonwealth plays a strong regional and national role in energy development and power generation, and the Pennsylvania PUC has a long history of helping to shape national utility policy conversations – a history that I am proud to help continue.”
Barrow was nominated by NARUC to serve as a state commission representative for the Mid-Atlantic Region in October 2023, to fill a vacancy on the task force, and her appointment was confirmed by FERC on Nov. 6, 2023. Barrow’s term on the task force will run through Aug. 31, 2024.
