PUC Approves Settlement in Rate Case of Imperial Point Water Company

HARRISBURG, Pa. - The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) has approved a settlement that will allow Imperial Point Water Service Company to increase rates by $7,500 (9.34 percent). The company had originally asked for a $19,662 (24 percent) annual increase in water rates.

Under the settlement, approved at the PUC's Nov. 4 public meeting, an average residential bill would increase approximately $30 a year, from $148 to $178 based on 64,000 gallons of water used. Rates were last raised by $10,632 in February 1997.

The company said it needs to increase rates to recover the cost of operating a recently installed filtration system.

Three formal complaints were filed protesting the proposed increase.

Imperial Point Water Service Company serves 486 residential customers in Girard Township and Fairview Borough, Erie County.
