HARRISBURG, Pa. - The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today suspended for investigation the request of the Buck Hill Water Company for a $97,627 (51.40 percent) annual increase in rates.
Under the companys proposal, an average residential bill would increase approximately $343 a year, from $671 to $1,014 based on 60,000 gallons of water used per year.
The proposed increase will be suspended for up to seven months from its November 22, 1999, proposed effective date and assigned to a PUC administrative law judge for a recommended decision.
The company said it needs to increase rates to recover the cost of capital improvements to the system.
