HARRISBURG, Pa. - The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today suspended for investigation the request of the Four Seasons Sewer Company for a $23,040 (20.4 percent) annual increase in sewer rates.

Under the company’s proposal, an average residential bill would increase approximately $40 a year, from $300 to $340.

The increase will be suspended for up to seven months from its October 16, 1999, proposed effective date and assigned to a PUC administrative law judge for a recommended decision.

The company said it needs to increase rates to recover the cost of purchased wastewater treatment expense from the Butler Township Authority.

Four Seasons Sewer Company serves 576 residential customers in Drums, Pennsylvania.
