HARRISBURG, Pa. - The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today approved a settlement that will allow Glendale Yearound Water Company to increase rates by $16,500 (12.88 percent). The company had originally asked for a $27,289 (20.9 percent) annual increase in water rates.
Under the settlement, an average residential bill would increase approximately $21 a year, from $163 to $184 based on 58,000 gallons of water used. The company may raise the rates one day after filing its compliance tariff with the PUC. As part of the settlement, Glendale Yearound is prohibited from filing another general rate increase for at least one year after the effective date of settlement rates.
The company filed its rate request on June 5, 1999, and the PUC instituted a formal investigation on August 26, 1999. A total of 11 complaints were filed against the proposed rates.
Glendale Yearound Water Company serves 1,192 customers in White and Chest Townships, Cambria County.
