PUC Appoints Directors of Audits, Transportation & Safety

Harrisburg, Pa. -- The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today announced the appointments of Tom Sheets, of Dauphin County, as Director of Audits and Mike Hoffman, of Mifflin County, as Director of Transportation & Safety.
"Tom Sheets and Mike Hoffman will be valuable members of my management team as we carry out our mission of ensuring that Pennsylvanians have safe, reliable and affordable utility service in the months and years to come," Chairman Glen R. Thomas said. "Both Tom and Mike have done exemplary jobs as Acting Directors over the last few months, and have earned appointments to these very important posts."
The Bureau of Audits is responsible for auditing Pennsylvanias electric, gas, telecommunications and water utilities. The Bureau of Transportation & Safety regulates railroad, gas and motor-carrier safety and service in the Commonwealth.
Sheets, a 23-year veteran with the Bureau of Audits, replaces Glenn Bartron, who retired. Sheets is a Certified Public Accountant and a graduate of Penn State University. Sheets, 50, lives in Hershey with his wife, Margaret. They have two adult children.
Hoffman, an 18-year veteran of the Bureau of Transportation & Safety, replaces George Mahan, who retired. Hoffman graduated from Kutztown University with a bachelors degree in criminal justice. Hoffman, 45, lives in Lewistown with his wife, Cheryl, and three children.
