PUC Commissioner Fitzpatrick to Dedicate Largest Solar Power Plant in Western PA: Will Hail Pennsylvania’s Leadership for ‘Green Power’

Pennsylvania Public Utility Commissioner Terrance J. Fitzpatrick will join officials from Green Mountain Energy, IKEA and Sun Power Electric to unveil Western Pennsylvania’s largest solar electric array, Green Mountain Solar at Pittsburgh, at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at the IKEA furniture store at Robinson Town Centre on Routes 22/30 in Robinson Township, eight miles from downtown Pittsburgh.

The event will include a tour of the building’s rooftop and restaurant-level solar panels, and a special public education display.

Commissioner Fitzpatrick will hail this high-tech renewable energy project and the new wind farms in Western Pennsylvania as further evidence of Pennsylvania’s leadership for green power.

DIRECTIONS FROM DOWNTOWN PITTSBURGH: Take I-279 South across the Fort Pitt Bridge and through the Fort Pitt Tunnel. Merge onto Routes 22/30, heading toward the airport. Exit at Robinson Town Centre shopping center. Turn right at the light and right again into the IKEA parking lot.
