HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) has fined an Ohio moving company $1,250 for two violations of offering service in Pennsylvania without holding a certificate of public convenience issued by the PUC.

In May, the PUC’s Bureau of Transportation and Safety instituted a complaint and suggested a fine of $1,250 for the violations against Fisher-Gilder & Bord Motor Express of Youngstown, Ohio. The company had 30 days to respond to the complaint or the fine would be imposed. The PUC did not receive a response during that time.

Fisher-Gilder & Bord advertised as a moving company in the Shenango Valley August 2000-July 2001 edition of the Bell Atlantic Yellow Pages without holding a Pennsylvania PUC certificate of public convenience. For this infraction, the company was fined $500. On Jan. 12, 2001, the company moved a customer’s belongings between points in Mercer County for compensation without having a certificate. The company was fined $750 for this violation.

The company held a certificate of public convenience in Pennsylvania from 1967 to 1992, when it was canceled.
