HARRISBURG, Pa. – Because the utility industry is constantly changing, the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) and The Council for Utility Choice are hosting a conference entitled "Challenges, Changes and Choice" on March 26 –28, 2001, at the Harrisburg Marriott. There is still space available to attend the conference, which is open to consumers, nonprofit organizations, utilities, corporations, trade associations, universities and government agencies. There may be scholarships available to help cover the cost of the conference.

The conference workshops are geared to help consumers understand energy issues and the choices available to them. The workshop presenters are experts in their fields and will address the changes that consumers have seen since Pennsylvania opened the doors of competition in electricity, local telephone and natural gas service. Workshops will also cover water issues and low-income programs available to utility customers.

Two general sessions will explore the future of the energy and telecommunications industries. Experts will reveal the emerging developments in both areas and explain what consumers might expect to see from these industries in the future.

For more information or to register for the three-day conference, visit the PUC’s website at http://puc.paonline.com or call the Gove Group at (412) 431-5087.
