HARRISBURG - The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) has scheduled three hearings to receive public comment on the request of Philadelphia Suburban Water Company for a $28 million (13.4 percent) rate increase.
Administrative Law Judge Marlane R. Chestnut will conduct hearings in:
- Hatboro, Montgomery County, on Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 6 p.m., at Crooked Billet Elementary School, 70 Meadowbrook Ave.
- Media, Delaware County, on Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 1 p.m., at Kings Mills Conference Center, Waters Edge, 6000 Pennell Road
- Berwyn, Chester County, on Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 6 p.m., at the Tredyffrin Township Building, Main Chamber, 1100 Duportail Road.
Customer testimony will become part of the record on which the PUC will base its decision in the case.
The increase would affect 350,623 residential, 19,432 commercial and 933 industrial customers served by Consumer Pennsylvania operating companies, Waymart Water Company, Fawn Lake Forest Water, Western Utilities, Northeastern Utilities and Hawley Water Company.
The company said the increase is necessary to pay for new plant construction; to repair and replace existing facilities; and to upgrade customer service information systems.
