PUC Approves Fare Increase for Bucks County Transport

Published on 6/27/2002

HARRISBURG - The Public Utility Commission (PUC) today approved fare increases for Bucks County Transport to provide paratransit service in the counties of Northampton, Lehigh, Montgomery and Philadelphia from Bucks County.

The average flat rate trip will increase $2 from $12 to $14 per passenger on a one-way trip. The company last increased rates in April 2001.

The company said that the fare increase was necessary to offset additional increased expenses.

The paratransit service is limited to transportation of persons who are non-ambulatory, or persons who, due to chronic or acute physical or mental conditions, require pre-trip preparation. All services are provided by state-certified emergency medical technicians in modified vehicles capable of handling wheelchairs.

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission ensures safe, reliable and reasonably priced electric, natural gas, water, telephone and transportation service for Pennsylvania consumers, by regulating public utilities and by serving as responsible stewards of competition.
