PUC Approves Rate Increase for Borough of Indiana Sewer Fund

HARRISBURG - The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today approved the Borough of Indiana‘s request to increase residential sewer rates by $683,812 (31.5 percent).

Under the company’s proposal, the bill for an average residential customer will increase approximately $37 a year, from $113 to $150. The Commission has jurisdiction over only the rates charged to customers who live the outside the borough limits.

The Borough of Indiana serves 3,311 customers in the Borough and 2,875 residential customers in White Township, Indiana County. The current rates have been in effect since February 2000.

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission ensures safe, reliable and reasonably priced electric, natural gas, water, telephone and transportation service for Pennsylvania consumers, by regulating public utilities and by serving as responsible stewards of competition.
