PUC Approves Rate Increases for Three Moving Companies

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) yesterday approved rate increases for three moving companies that serve Clarion, Crawford, Forest, Venango and Warren counties.

Hanna Transfer Company-North, Haylett Storage and Service, and Shea’s Transfer are increasing hourly charges by $6, from $96 to $102. The hourly rates cover the transportation of household goods from Clarion, Crawford, Forest, Venango and Warren counties to distances of 40 miles of less.

The companies said the new rates are necessary due to increased insurance, wages and general overhead costs. Rates were last raised in March 1994.

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission ensures safe, reliable and reasonably priced electric, natural gas, water, telephone and transportation service for Pennsylvania consumers, by regulating public utilities and by serving as responsible stewards of competition.
