HARRISBURG -The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today said High Meadow Sewer Service could increase sewer rates by $16,928 (42 percent), about $3,400 less than the company had originally proposed.

If the company rejects the lower amount, its original rate request will be assigned to an administrative law judge for hearings and a recommended decision. The recommended decision then will be sent to the Commissioners to make the final decision in a public meeting.  The company had originally sought to increase rates by $20,340.

Under the alternative proposal approved by the PUC, the annual bill for an average unmetered residential customer would increase approximately $150 from $360 to $510. The rate increase would affect approximately 113 customers. 

High Meadow Sewer Service provides service in Butler, Butler County.
