HARRISBURG -The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) has approved a settlement that will allow Reynolds Water Company in Mercer County to increase water rates by $109,200 (33.4 percent).

The company had requested a $153,083 (46.8 percent) rate increase.  One formal complaint was filed.

Under the settlement, the annual bill for an average residential customer using 44,000 gallons of water will increase approximately $80, from $240 to $320. The rate increase will affect approximately 724 residential customers in Greenville, Mercer County.

The proposed increase will become effective on one day’s notice after the Commission’s order is officially entered.  Administrative Law Judge Fred Nene recommended on June 2 that the settlement be approved.
