PUC Pulls 48 Potentially Dangerous Trucks from Highway

The majority of the trucks were taken off the road because of worn or defective brakes, said Mike Hoffman, director of the PUCs Bureau of Transportation and Safety. The other vehicles had faulty turn signals, brake lights or hazard lights. Drivers are prohibited from taking their trucks back on the road until the problems are corrected.
Enforcement officers also cited 12 drivers for failing to take mandatory rest breaks. Drivers are required to take at least an eight-hour break after driving for 10 consecutive hours, or when their workday reaches 15 hours, such as after 10 hours driving and five hours working in the terminal.
