HARRISBURG – On behalf of the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC), Chairman Terrance Fitzpatrick today welcomed Wendell F. Holland as a PUC Commissioner. Nominated by Gov. Edward Rendell, Holland was confirmed today by the Senate by a vote of 47-0.

“Wendell brings the benefit of his prior service as PUC Commissioner, and his private-sector experience in utility issues to this Commission and to Pennsylvania consumers and utility companies,” Chairman Fitzpatrick said. “The Public Utility Commission welcomes Wendell as our newest Commissioner. We look forward to working with him.”

Holland replaces Aaron Wilson Jr., whose term expired on March 31.

“Commissioner Wilson served the citizens of Pennsylvania for more than five years,” Chairman Fitzpatrick said. “He talked often about making sure we as a Commission struck a fair balance between the needs of utility customers and the industry that worked for them. He made consumer education a hallmark of his tenure.”

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission ensures safe, reliable and reasonably priced electric, natural gas, water, telephone and transportation service for Pennsylvania consumers, by regulating public utilities and by serving as responsible stewards of competition.
