PUC Approves Rate Increase for Kensington Water Company

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today voted to approve a request by the Kensington Water Company to increase rates by $3,025 (34 percent).

Under the company’s proposal, the bill for an average residential customer using 60,000 gallons of water a year would increase approximately by $67 from $197 to $264. The increase would affect approximately 46 customers in The Foothills of Kensington development, in portions of Hamilton and Letterkenny townships, Franklin County .

Current rates have been in effect since the company was certificated by the PUC in 1994.

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission ensures safe, reliable and reasonably priced electric, natural gas, water, telephone and transportation service for Pennsylvania consumers, by regulating public utilities and by serving as stewards of competition.
