HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today approved a settlement that will allow Utilities Inc. – Westgate in Northampton County to increase rates by $56,000.  The company had originally asked for a $67,926 rate increase.

Under the settlement, the annual bill for an average residential customer using 75,600 gallons of water will increase approximately $81 from $247 to $328.  The rate increase will affect approximately 715 customers in Hanover Township, Northampton County.

The proposed increase will become effective on one day’s notice after the Commission’s order is officially entered.  Administrative Law Judge Ky Van Nguyen recommended on March 2 that the settlement be approved.
