HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today approved Birch Acres Water Company’s request to establish metered rate charges, replacing flat rate charges for residential and commercial customers.

Under the company’s proposal, the metered water bill for an average residential customer using 60,000 gallons a year will be approximately $385.  Customers currently pay a flat rate of $395 annually.  The change would affect 46 customers in the Birch Acres Development, in Smithfield Township, Mercer County.

Birch Acres is based in East Stroudsburg.
