HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today voted to allow the Glendale Yearound Water Company to increase rates by $38,275 (22 percent). The company had asked for a $59,123 increase.
Under the PUC’s revised rates, the average annual bill for an unmetered residential customer would increase approximately $41 from $184 to $225. The increase would affect approximately 1,349 customers in portions of White and Chest townships, Cambria County .
Glendale Yearound has to accept the increase and file a new tariff 10 days after the date the order is entered. The increase will be permitted to become effective on a five-day notice. If the company does not file a tariff on or before 10 days after the order has been entered, an investigation on the proposed increase will be assigned to a PUC administrative law judge for a recommended decision or settlement. The recommended decision then will be sent to the Commissioners to make the final decision in a public meeting.
The last increase was in January 2000.
