PUC Suspends Request for Rate Increase by Buck Hill Water Company

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today voted to suspend and investigate Buck Hill Water Company’s request for a $153,495 (62.2 percent) rate increase.
Under the company’s proposal, the annual bill for an average residential customer using 40,000 gallons of water a year would increase approximately $479, from $761 to $1,240. The rate increase would affect approximately 304 customers.
The proposed increase will be suspended for up to seven months from its Aug. 11 proposed effective date and assigned to a PUC administrative law judge for a recommended decision or settlement. The recommended decision will be sent to the Commissioners to make the final decision in a public meeting.
The Buck Hill Falls-based company last raised rated in 1999. Service is provided in Buck Hill Falls, Barrett Township, Monroe County.
