Electric Utilities and PJM to Brief PUC on Reliability for this Summer

HARRISBURG – Pennsylvania’s electricity providers and PJM Interconnection will brief the Public Utility Commission (PUC), at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, in the PUC’s Executive Chambers on the 3^rd Floor of the Commonwealth Keystone Building, on their plans to meet the demand for electricity throughout the Commonwealth during the summer months, particularly at peak times. 

Topics that will be covered during the meeting include: forecasted load and capacity; latest outage reports; short-term plans to implement the new North American Electric Reliability Council’s (NERC) standards for reliability; and vegetation management.

Speakers at the meeting will include:

• Commissioner Kim Pizzingrilli;
• Tom Falin, Manager, Capacity Adequacy, PJM Interconnection;
• Tom Mallinger, Director, Network Modeling, Midwest Independent Systems Operator;
• Douglas L. Biden, President, Electric Power Supply Association; and
• J. Michael Love, President and CEO, Energy Association of Pennsylvania.
