PUC Fines Pittsburgh Yellow Cab Company $2,950

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today fined Yellow Cab Company of Pittsburgh $2,950 for various violations, including failing to pick up customers at scheduled times and allowing a driver to operate without a valid drivers’ license.

            The PUC cited the company for 11 violations, each carrying a $250 fine. Yellow was also fined an additional $200 for allowing the driver, on three occasions, to operate a cab without having a valid driver’s license.

            The PUC’s Bureau of Transportation and Safety filed a complaint against the company on July 19, 2004.

            The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission ensures safe, reliable and reasonably priced electric, natural gas, water, telephone and transportation service for Pennsylvania consumers, by regulating public utilities and by serving as stewards of competition.
