HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) will hold an additional en banc hearing on Thursday, Dec. 18, to discuss current trends in the wholesale electricity markets. The hearing will be on similar topics as those addressed during the en banc hearings held on Oct. 23 and Nov. 6, although different speakers and viewpoints will be represented.
The hearing will begin at 12:30 p.m. in Hearing Room 1 of the Commonwealth Keystone Building in Harrisburg. The public is welcome to attend.
Today’s announcement is to save the date. An agenda and comment period information will follow soon on the Wholesale Energy Markets page of the PUC Web site as it becomes available. Some of the parties presenting testimony include the Electric Power Generation Association and COMPETE Coalition.
The five PUC Commissioners will conduct the en banc hearing to solicit comments from specific parties who are being invited. As part of the informal en banc hearing process, the Commissioners will pose questions to speakers after their testimony.
The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission balances the needs of consumers and utilities to ensure safe and reliable utility service at reasonable rates; protect the public interest; educate consumers to make independent and informed utility choices; further economic development; and foster new technologies and competitive markets in an environmentally sound manner.
