PUC Hosts Philadelphia ‘Be Utility Wise’ Human Services Virtual Conference

Still time to register for 2021 conference on Dec. 15

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC), PECO Energy and local utilities in Southeast Pennsylvania are hosting the 2021 Philadelphia “Be Utility Wise” Human Services Virtual Conference on Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2021, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This year’s program will be conducted via Virtual Zoom Conference with PUC Chairman Gladys Brown Dutrieuille providing an opening message highlighting the PUC’s current #CallUtilitiesNow campaign. #CallUtilitiesNow encourages consumers and small businesses experiencing financial difficulty – whether the financial difficulties are related to the COVID pandemic, the ongoing state and national recovery, or other challenging circumstances – to get needed information and discuss options to remain connected to vital utility services.

The PUC’s annual “train-the-trainer” events bring together front-line community partners, utilities and key stakeholders.

With its 2021 theme “When You Know Better, You Do Better,” community providers in Southeast Pennsylvania will be able to learn more on local programs, services and resources available to income eligible customers, including:

  • Utility Customer Assistance Programs – Regulatory and Policy Updates;
  • Additional support for utility Hardship Funds and other local programs that assist consumers who need help paying their utility bills;
  • Energy Efficiency, Conservation and Weatherization measures; and
  • Human Services, including resources for specific customer segments.

Philadelphia “Be Utility Wise” is part of the PUC’s annual “train-the-trainer” events bringing together front-line community partners, utilities and key stakeholders in highlighting energy efficiency, conservation and customer assistance programs intended to help income-qualified households maintain essential utility services.
