Tariff Supplement Sets New Customer Rates, Enables Company to Recover Increased Wastewater Testing Expenses for its Chester County System

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today allowed revisions to the wastewater tariff of Nantmeal Warwick Sewer Company Inc. (Nantmeal Warwick) – enabling the company to set new rates and meet increased testing requirements on its wastewater system in Chester County.

The Commission voted 5-0 to permit Nantmeal Warwick’s tariff supplement to become effective on Aug. 1, 2024.  In its filing, the company cited increased operating costs, inflationary measures and increased testing requirements as key reasons for an approximately $20,000 increase in total annual operating revenues (45.8%).  The company also is adjusting quarterly customer charges (from $81 to $106) and consumption charges (from $6 to $11 per 1,000 gallons).

Under the tariff supplement, the typical wastewater bill for a residential customer using 11,300 gallons per quarter would increase from $148.80 to $230.30 per quarter (54.8%). The typical wastewater bill for a non-residential customer using 91,200 gallons per quarter would increase from $628.20 to $1,109.20 per quarter (76.6%).

Nantmeal Warwick last adjusted its wastewater tariff and service rates in 2012.  The company serves approximately 50 homes and businesses in portions of Elverson Borough, West Nantmeal Township, East Nantmeal Township and Warwick Township.
