HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) approved a rate increase request by Kaib and Kaib LLC (Kaib and Kaib) for natural gas distribution services. Kaib and Kaib serves 45 residential and three commercial customers in the township of Warsaw and the Borough of Hazen, Jefferson County.
The Commission voted 5-0 to approve Kaib and Kaib’s request for an annual revenue increase of $29,488 (69.7%) – including an increase in the gas distribution charge from $5.50/Mcf to $9.00/Mcf (for both residential and commercial customers) as well as increases in customer charges, from $5.50 to $12 for residential customers and to $35 for commercial customers.
The average bill for a residential customer using 12.5 Mcf of natural gas would increase from $73.48 to $123.24 (67.71%) per month.
Kaib and Kaib has not filed for a rate increase since its original rates were approved in 1999.
