HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today voted to suspend and investigate a proposed rate increase by Audubon Water Company (Audubon) for water service in Lower Providence Township, Montgomery County.
The Commission voted 5-0 to investigate Audubon’s proposal to increase its annual operating revenues for water services by approximately $999,975 (33.8%). Under the proposal, the average bill for a residential water customer using 4,000 gallons per month would increase from $51.28 to $69.38 per month (35.3%).
The rate increase request is suspended and will be assigned to the Office of Administrative Law Judge for evidentiary hearings and the issuance of recommended decisions or settlements. More information on the ratemaking process is available on the Commission’s website. A final PUC decision is due by July 26, 2025.
Audubon provides water service to approximately 3,172 residential, commercial, multi-family, public fire and private fire protection customers in Lower Providence Township.
