‘Black Health and Wellness’ is the National Theme for 2022 Activities

HARRISBURG – Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) Chairman Gladys Brown Dutrieuille today recognized the special interrelationship between public utilities and public health, and the strong connection to this year’s national Black History Month theme – “Black Health and Wellness.”

“The past nearly two years underscore the importance of staying healthy and taking care of ourselves – both physically and mentally. Our public utilities are essential to bringing services to the most vulnerable members of our communities, without which our citizens cannot grow and thrive."

Chairman Dutrieuille also encouraged the public to participate in an upcoming program hosted by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Multi-Agency Black History Month Committee.  This year’s virtual Black History Month program will be held at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2022.

The national theme for Black History Month 2022 is “Black Health and Wellness,” which emphasizes and explores the importance of access to quality and affordable healthcare. The virtual event on February 23 includes a panel of speakers focusing on wellness, which includes the body, mind and spirit.

The annual Black History Month event is free and open to the public.  More information and a link for registration is available online at https://www.puc.pa.gov/upcoming-events/black-history-month-2022/
